I've
been a professional journalist, editor and communications consultant for

a personal level.....

.......yes we all need a
personal life too.....I play mandolin and mandola with the Canberra
Mandolin Orchestra. The orchestra brings together players of mandolin,
mandola, mandocello, guitar and double bass.
We keep alive the rich tradition
of the mandolin groups that were so popular with thousands of amateur and
professional music makers in the first couple of decades of the 20th century. |
Under the musical direction
of Michael Sollis,
our repertoire includes ritzy tunes from the dawn of the jazz age, light
classics, film themes, Italian, Irish and Australian folk tunes and popular
music. Mandolin orchestras work much like a string orchestra, except that
mandolins are plucked and not bowed.
We meet every Tuesday evening
in Canberra and new players, at any level, are always welcome. We can provide
tuition in mandolin, mandola, mandocello and guitar. Check our website
