Workshops with Monika Leone

I am planning a few workshops this coming term for current students and newcomers who are intertested in learning new concepts in pottery/ceramic work with helpful tips.  It is also an opportunity to just make a one-off art piece even if you haven’t potted before and only want to give clay a go.  These will be full day workshops where each person can produce a good-sized piece of work with an hours break for a two course home-cooked lunch where we can eat, chat and wait for our work to firm up a bit so we can continue construction and surface treatment. I am offering the same workshop on two days, one weekday and one weekend to give anyone interested an opportunity to attend. There will be 8 places per class (call 6161 2177).  SLAB WORKSHOP Sat.  17th April, 9.30 – 4.30  - Completed - view photos Next worskhop - date to be advised. Large forms with new joining methods. We will be using large slabs which we will treat with various teachniques and then drape onto moulds and let firm a little and then join, perhaps adding rims, handles or feet if desired. COIL WORKSHOP Next workshop - Sat. 12 June, 9-30am-4.30pm Large forms built with quick coiling techniques and post treatment with slips and underglazes.  I will firm up different shaped bases a few days before which you can pick from and then continue free-forming. The cost of the workshop is $130 per day and will include: • demonstration and tuition for the day • 1 – 2 bags of clay • underglazes, slips, glazes • one firing • morning and afternoon tea and 2 course lunch If further glazing and firing is required we can arrange a Saturday morning for 1-2 hours for a further $25.   However, if you are currently attending classes you can, of course, do further treatment during class time.
